Médecins Sans Frontières-Holland (MSF-H) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.For the Kirkuk Governorate Project, MSF-H is looking for a Water and Sanitation (Watsan) Technician.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
The Watsan Technician position is a field base position, and is overall responsible to centralize information related to implementation of WASH Standards in all MSF supported Health Facilities and Camps.
Carrying out tasks directly related to the WatSan activities such as construction and maintenance of infrastructures in the project according to MSF protocols and standards concerning the operation of water supply, waste management and excreta disposal, hygiene and infection control.
Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of the WatSan structures and when applicable, of the medical facilities.
Identifying, recruiting, training and supervising daily laborers or hygiene agents for WatSan activities including cleaners working in MSF health facilities.
Informing the Project Medical Referent of any difficulties, anomalies and problems that may affect the normal functioning of activities and tasks in his/her area of responsibility.
Responsible for sanitary surveillance of health structures, data collection and WatSan content in the Monthly Medical Report (MMR) as well as maintaining updated files and records of assigned project activities.
Being responsible for equipment, tools, and consumables, verifying that they are safely used and maintained.Reporting to the supervisor any need of renewal and the weekly/monthly consumption.
Report WASH needs of the project to the Project Medical Referent and the proposed interventions to prevent WASH related morbidities in camps and nosocomial diseases in the health facilities.
Prepare project designs and BOQs
Liaises with Logistics and Finance for resources to implement WASH activities.
Ensure timely submission of supply and material requests with correct quantities and specifications.
Contributes to emergency preparedness planning.
Ensure emergency response stock is updated and organized (regular inventory and replenishment orders).
Supports and/or participates in emergency response activities;
Liaises with other WASH Actors upon request of line manager.

Working hours: 48 per week

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Technical certification or proven background, desirable specialization in water and sanitation.
Previous experience in technical work in a humanitarian organization.
English, Arabic essential.Kurdish desirable.
Strong organization and communication skills.
Assessment and analytical skills.
Experience in management and training of staff.
